Yikes!
I’m late!
The garden is watered, the cat is fed and petted. Peggy’s paintings are hung with the Aurora art guild in the Neil Balkwell gallery. There is a Japanese Kei truck in the garage, ready to be taken for inspection, and the camper is due for a windshield replacement next week.
Whew.
Its been a bit.
But gratitude is the overriding theme. My knee is no longer filled with gouty pins and razor blade crystals. Walking feels good again. Next month I have a work place again and can start paying my expenses. I will feel useful. On top of all this, there are still some summer days ahead.
Life is very good.
But our siblings in Ukraine are still facing down a powerful aggressor. And my country too is under economic and political attack from an empire of greed.
Life is very hard.
Two things can be true. And many more than too. And many there are who spread lies and half truths.
We are called.
Called to resist greed.
Called to resist hate.
Called to resist racism.
Called to resist fear of the other.
Called to love.
Called to welcome.
Called to help each other.
And if we follow Jesus we are COMMANDED to love and feed and house and heal and visit “the least of these.”
And we are called, not just to comfort the afflicted;
But also to afflict the comfortable who profit off the needs and the pain of others. Let us rise up like s mighty army, armed with weapons for love, not harm. Let us rise up and demand that the needs of the many be met over the greeds of the few.
It has happened before. Revolutions have overthrown empires of greed and dominating power.
It is time again.
